Another short from the LA based Watchword Film Collective. They wanted to pay homage to 60’s French New Wave with this piece and sent me a Jaques Dutronc clip as reference. What they didn’t know is that I love that particular sound.. I channelled some of my favorites like, Jaques Dutronc, Fabienne Delsol, Francois Hardy, etc. to create something fun and french. I also used my own samples for the sound design.
This was a really fun project… I received this piece with no audio from the LA based Watchword Film Collective, and created a new years party environment using all of my own samples and music.
I was challenged to create some big band/jazz music for this short and I think it came out great. This is another film by the LA based Watchword Film Collective.
I did sound design for this piece by Watchword Film Collective based out of Los Angeles.
I produced, edited and did original music for this Yea.Nice brand story.

Here’s what they have to say about us:
Over five thousand miles lie between Colorado, the home of noise-pop duo South of France, and the area from which they take their name. Now I’ve got that rather pointless fact out the way, let me tell you just how awesome their music is. Formed earlier this year by friends Jeff Cormack and Emily Ashley, today sees the release of their debut EP Kings. The title track is a gloriously upbeat lo-fi inspired number, combining twee and brash pop-rock into a rather delightful effort. The reverb laden vocals switch between male and female sections, showcasing a romantic dialogue with Cormack proclaiming, “I can feel your heartbeat, all the way across the street” and Ashley wistfully replying “I can see it in your eyes, you’re the one that never cries“. And just wait until you hear that chorus. Elsewhere, there’s the funky swagger of Ghost Driver, heavily percussion orientated and swirling with dreamy harmonies and the unabashed pop of Reflections And Shadow Casting, which again utilizes the intertwining vocals to scintillating effect. This is gritty pop for your broken heart at it’s very best. Click the title above to read it directly on the crackintheroad site
